Winter Practice with Indoor Simulators

Winter practice with indoor simulators gives any golfer the best environment possible for improvement in both the golf swing and short game. Here lie the elements for making the fastest and most efficient change possible. Mostly these elements are applied without one being aware that they are being used. Here is why:

To make a change in any golf swing, it is necessary to have a moment of impact. This means that change is not possible with just a practice swing. But if one can remove the consequence or the requirements of a shot, while still having the moment of impact, change can be both quick and easy.

Historically this has been done by putting the ball on a tee. Doing this removes any obligation of getting the ball air born and forward thus freeing one to focus on whatever one needs to focus on to make a change. Now one can have the impact from a changed motion and from this the mind will automatically rewire itself so as to incorporate a change. This is how progress is made possible, otherwise by having the ball on the ground one will immediately revert to the old habits so as to achieve a desired result.

Another way to remove consequence is to hit into a net. Here there is only impact without any ball flight and since ball flight has been removed one is not concerned with results, so it is easy to focus on whatever one is working on to make a change. If it is narrowing the stance for more power or adjusting the grip or swinging the left arm across the chest, this environment allows one to concentrate on those or any aspects of the swing and setup and then create a moment of impact. Here change and improvement is also possible.

But with the new swing simulators giving perfect data and ball flight the best possible environment  is afforded to any golfer who is working for change or improvement. Here one is still aware of hitting into  net but now there is also ball flight which gives the golfer a degree of choice as to what they want to focus on. If the choice is to develop the golf swing it is now possible to do that, or if one is hitting into a well protected green or a tree lined fairway the focus can now be more on the results.

One can play a multitude of world class golf courses giving the opportunity to apply that new swing adjustment, to work on pre-shot routine or prepare for just such a trip.  Imagine being able to try a new punch shot from underneath a tree. Here one can work on controlling or calibrating distance wedges by how much one grips down narrows or drops the foot back. Finally the set up for a 35 yard pitch shot can be tested and then owned through practice.

With such precise shot data that new driver can be fitted to match your desired ball flight or a new wedge with all it’s variables of sole width, radius, camber and grid can be tested to fit you as a golfer. Putters either faced balanced or toe weighted can be played making sure of its feel and design.

Finally juniors and golf teams both high school and college have a place to practice during the winter months to prepare for the next season. Here is a look at the indoor at X GOLF in Bound Brook NJ.
